Golovkin Talks Trump

on

The President elect is a fan of boxing, used to host cards at his casinos in Atlantic City before they went bankrupt, and still attends the odd fight card now and again.

Donald Trump, the NYC real estate wheeler-dealer turned reality TV host turned politico, unless a budding scandal involving possible ties to Russia explodes his administration before it starts, attended the last Gennady Golovkin fight in NYC. Golovkin, the sweet-faced assassin from Kazakhstan, was asked Tuesday if he knew if the orange-hued Twitter madman would be coming to his March 18 MSG tango with Danny Jacobs.

Golovkin promoter noted that Trump came to the last two GGG bouts (David Lemieux in 2015, Daniel Geale in 2014) in NYC. There’s no telling if he’ll be in NY for the March tiff, said Loeffler. But if that occurred, it would be the first time in recent memory a sitting POTUS has attended a prize fight.

I wondered, is Trump a good luck charm for GGG? “I’m a boxer, I’m not political, I respect now he’s President of of the United States,” GGG said.
