The OT: NY Fights Back!

on

These are the days made critical by dudes in suits
Too political, its critical they blind the truth
See the way they burrow- underneath your feet/ they’re rats thorough/ Plus I know this much I owe the youth…
You see, the peace you seek ain’t in the streets- its a trap
Its hard when jail always prevails white or black
They will: Two piece you/ Then brief you/ Might bleed you/ What more can I tell you? Let me spell it for you
O to the P/ E. N. / E. Y. E
This you must do like: M dot E
And I’m back for more/ New York’s new ambassador
Prime Minister back to finish my business up

There are many great things you can do under the auspices of art. And since art is only inspired by life, it is a place of hyperbole where one can lie to tell the truth. Within the song “Empire State of Mind” featuring Alicia Keys, Jigga dropped an ominous subliminal forecast.
“For foreigners it ain’t fair, they act like they forgot how to add
Eight million stories out there in the naked city
Its a pity half of y’all won’t make it”
Wait. Did he know something in advance? As in the current nefarious effort to go stormtrooper on immigrants during this current administration way back in 2009? In life- while seemingly not imitating art, Jay-Z was a huge voice under the Obama administration for reasons only he knows. What we do know in New York and its surrounding boroughs, is that the loud have gone voiceless over these last two months; as President Obama’s eight years in office feels like eight years ago.
Just like that song I used to chant with such pride eight years ago.
Most people know that President Trump chose as his campaign slogan “Make America Great Again”, which made me think. Various references were made to a ‘coincidence’ related to that slogan being popular during the Hitler years and the rise of Nazism. In “Dark Knight Rises,” Commissioner Gordon told the character of Robin that now that he’s a detective he’s “not allowed to believe in coincidence anymore.”
President Trump’s first major act as commander-in-chief against immigrants in condemning “sanctuary cities” [seems to] reflect an ideology around a premise to “Make America Hate Again” as she clearly did during the time of Andrew Jackson’s tyrannical reign as president (who was a Democrat by the way). U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, in the most aggressive tone I’ve ever heard from an elected official, had this to say on Monday to states who dare opposition.
“I urge our nations states and cities to consider carefully the harm they are doing to their citizens by refusing to enforce our immigration laws and to re-think these policies,” Sessions told reporters at the White House on Monday.
I don’t know if he misspoke shortly thereafter, but carefully read his next statement where he actually tells the truth about “these policies.”
“Such policies make their cities and states less safe, and puts them at risk of losing valuable federal dollars.”
NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren are fiercely leading the charge to challenge what cannot be perceived as anything less than a threat to our civil liberties and the Constitution itself, by what Warren characterized as “Fear-Mongering”.

I woke up this morning with Shawn Porter V Andre Berto on my mind and began the process of preparation for what is sure to be another great event at Barclays Center on April 22. But as a citizen of this nation and someone of Indian/African descent, the 1st Amendment beckoned. Because we proudly write about fighters on this independent media site that does NOT offer “Fake News,” I felt it important to remind you that it is never OK to feel threatened for speaking against perceived Hate. If you believe that— then you also believe that Love has a competitor.
It does not.
