“I Think Chavez Will Wear Canelo Down And Get Him The Eff Outta There!”

on

I’m not seeing and hearing much in the way of folks sayng they think Julio Cesar Chavez Jr can channel pop tomorrow night, and fight the scrap of his life and beat Canelo Alvarez.

Are you?

But I found a guy!

A pro fighter of some regard, no less!

Shawn Cameron, the NY based 154er, told me he likes Junior’s chances, real good, to have his hand raised at T-Mobile in Las Vegas.

“It’s going to be a fight, not much boxing,” Cameron, who works out of the famed and fabled Gleason’s Gym,  told NYF. “Canelo is the better fighter from a technical standpoint, but he’s not a boxer and doesn’t move much. I think Chavez will wear him down and get him the fuck outta there.”

Interesting. Very.

Continue, please…

“Late,” he added.

“It’s like what happened with their brothers last weekend,” he stated.

For those not knowing, the younger bro of Julio, 27 year old Omar (36-3-1), a middleweight, downed Canelo’s older bro, 30 year old Ramon Alvarez (24-6-2) in Mexico, TKO2.

Ramon was coming in off a win after losing a SD10 to Antonio Margarito. This was a rematch of a 2014 faceoff won by Alavarez, via UD10.

OK, Cam, just how sure are you?

“I’m about 88% sure, which is very good,” he answered, with a chuckle. “It’s like, I’d tell you to bet your money, you’d win, but I wouldn’t bet mine…You’d win though!”

OK, noted, hard…but I don’t see Junior being able to pressure Canelo for enough minutes of a round to win rounds over the long haul.

“Well, Canelo is the better fighter, but he’s just not used to fighting bigger guys. It’s very different, you expend more energy. And I’m not sure Canelo can knock out Junior. So after awhile he’s going to get tired. This is a twelve round fight. Everybody keeps saying Chavez is trash. But he was good enough to win the WBC middleweight belt.”

Mmmm, lemme push back more, politely. I don’t think Junior is near as strong as Canelo, mentally. “Nah, but if he feels like he can win, that goes out the window. And I think he feels like he can win,” said Cameron.

Interesting. Very interesting.

I love hearing contrary opinions in situations like this, as when we have an overwhelmng majority of pundits picking one guy to win. File this Cameron call away in the back of your mind as we count down to fight night.

And hell, maybe throw a couple bucks to the bookie and if it pays, send Cam a check, as thanks.
