Richardson Hitchins Goes to 2-0 At Barclays Center

on

Richardson Hitchins looked rock solid in going to 2-0, as he scored a UD4 over Alexander Picot, who came from Puerto Rico intending to go the distance.

It was 40-36, times three, for the prospect on Saturday night at Barclays Center, underneath the Shawn Porter-Andre Berto main event.

The 19 year Hitchins, who repped Haiti at the 2016 Olympics, is signed to Mayweather Promotions.

In the first, Rich came out guns blazing. Then he settled in, stayed at range, and got work in. In round two, Hitch, a Brooklyner, stayed smart. His movement was on message, as he’d throw, then slide out. His jab was constant, and he’d often throw the two and three behind it.

To the third, Picot (now 2-3-1) was hanging tough. He did well to eat the right hand to the body early, and not visibly wince. He was just backing up, eating, and not digging it as Hitch dug to the body. Would he make it out of the round? Yes. Barely, maybe. To round four..Hitch wanted to end it. He bore in, looked to land a bombing right, but Picot had survival on his mind. Survive he did. To the cards we went.

–After the bout, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams lauded Danny Jacobs, the middleweight whose stock rose in defeat against Gennady Golovkin last month. Adams took the mic from CEO Brett Yormark. Adams proclaimed it Danny Jacobs day, this April 22, and the fighter told the crowd that he dearly wanted to get that W against GGG, but that better days and nights are to come in his career.
